Get prenatal care as soon as you know you are pregnant.

It is important for you and your baby to have a healthy pregnancy.

You will need to have a physical exam and have your blood pressure and weight measured.

Blood tests are necessary to determine your blood type, Rh factor and iron level.

You will also have to be tested for any Sexually Transmitted Diseases and immunity to rubella (German Measles).

Keep all your doctor appointments!

Your blood pressure, weight and your baby's heart rate will need to be checked regularly.

Ask your health care provider before taking any medication, including over-the-counter medications.

Talk to your doctor about any questions or concerns.

Take a childbirth preparation class.

Be alert for any danger signs such as bleeding, abdominal pain, vision problems, severe vomiting, chills and/or fever, severe headdache or swelling. If you have any of these signs contact your doctor's office. Don't wait for your next appointment!
