Improved Pregnancy Outcome

Kick Count

Kick Count is an easy, natural, non-invasive method of keeping tabs on your baby's health. Start Kick Count after 28 weeks of pregnancy. Do your kick counts after you eat or drink cold water/fluids.
  • Do this after a meal, three times a day.
  • Lie on your left side or sit up.
  • Mark each time your baby kicks, twists or turns.

Your baby should move at least 4 times in the first 30 minutes. Once you have the 4 movements, even if 30 minutes is not up, you can quit counting. . If your baby doesn't move 4 times within 30 minutes, drink 2 glasses of ice cold fluids, lie on your left side, and try a second 30 minutes. If your baby is not active enough, notify your physician. NEVER WAIT! Notify your physician or go to Labor and Delivery if your baby is not moving.
