This program is sponsored by the Mental Hygiene Administration and is offered through the Allegany County Mental Health System’s Office (CSA), a division of the Allegany County Health Department, in cooperation with the Sheriff and the Allegany County Detention Center. The purpose of the program is to provide comprehensive and coordinated services to individuals who have serious mental illness and/or co-occurring conditions in the Allegany County Detention Center.
Services Provided
- Individualized assessment.
- Coordination and referral to community-based support services relating to mental health, substance abuse, medical, education, entitlements, housing, and other services as required upon discharge.
- Diversion to community-based care, as appropriate and possible.
- Aftercare planning and case management.
- Mental health support services.
- Educational Groups—i.e., Anger Management, Desperate to Change, etc.
- Development and coordination of educational presentations by community agencies to enhance inmate awareness of entitlements and services available in the community and to provide skill development opportunities to assist consumers in their transition back into the community upon release.
