Amanda Riggleman began at the Allegany County Health Department - Outpatient Mental Health Center on July 9, 2007 as a Mental Health Associate. At this time, we did not realize the incredible employee we had gained, but it did not take us long to recognize what a true asset she would become to the Center. Amanda currently works in the Day Treatment Program where she is responsible for obtaining authorizations for treatment, completing treatment plans for patients, providing transportation, and serving as a co-facilitator in group therapy. In addition to these duties, Amanda also is the field liaison and supervisor for the Human Service students at Allegany College. She also serves as the case coordinator for approximately 15 patients in the Center and is responsible for trouble-shooting and completing paperwork and treatment plan updates. For many years, Amanda was also the CPR trainer for the Mental Health Staff.
Amanda is hard-working, conscientious, dedicated and prides herself on accuracy. She is always the first person to volunteer to help when we are short-staffed. She frequently volunteers to cover the KIDS Program even though she has numerous other duties. She has also volunteered to work several Health Fairs and the National Take Back Day on her days off. She sets the example for other staff of what team-work is all about.
Amanda is extremely organized. She manages to obtain authorizations for Day Treatment, keep track of the patient’s information and needs, supervise the interns, keep up to date on the marketing for both Day Treatment and KIDS, and educate patients on assistance programs that may be useful and available. Her professional demeanor, efficient style, and overall knowledge have been instrumental in helping several patients receive the care they need.
The creative side of Amanda can be seen when she is completing therapeutic activities with the patients. She offers a unique and thoughtful perspective to patents and has a way of making patients looks at things differently than they might have previously considered. Amanda is kind, caring, and conscientious. She is a true pleasure to work with and highly respected among her colleagues. She always takes the time to offer a smile and ask how your day is going.
Amanda is dedicated to her job and always goes the extra mile without complaint or prompting. The Behavioral Health Unit is extremely grateful and blessed to have Amanda as a part of their team.
For so many reasons, Amanda Riggleman is truly deserving to be the Allegany County Health Department’s June 2012 Employee of the Month.
