ADAPT - Alcohol and Drug Abuse
Prevention for Teens/Pre-teens

ADAPT is a 8 session substance abuse educational program provided by the Allegany County Health Department Outpatient Addictions and Prevention Programs. Participants learn through group interaction and discussion, educational presentations, videos, role-plays and creative art activities.

This program is geared to help adolescents cope more positively with peer pressure, learn more responsible behavior, make better decisions, increase their awareness of personal and peer values, and to gain knowledge about drug, alcohol and tobacco use.

The ADAPT program is especially appropriate for children who have:

  • experimented with chemical use
  • involvement with alcohol and/or drug using friends
  • been involved with the legal system as a result of drug and/or alcohol use
  • demonstrated personal problems that put them at risk for substance use, such as: poor relationships with peers, lack of involvement in school activities, poor self image, poor grades and have been raised in a home where drug and/or alcohol has been abused

For more information, or to make a referral, call the Outpatient Addictions Unit at 301-759-5050 (TTY/TDD 1-800-735-2258).
